Tea of the Day - Feb/29/2016

This tea was given to me at work.  I'm not a huge fan of herbal tea, especially Lipton's, but this one is quite good.  It's milder than most hibiscus teas, which I find a good thing.

Also, let's give Lipton credit for the "pyramid" teabag, as the tea itself is chunkier than what you would find in a normal teabag.

To date I've largely avoided teas with a hibiscus base, but I may be changing my mind about that, as Wikipedia claims that hibiscus tea helps manage mild hypertension, which I've got.  If I could drink tea instead of taking pharmaceuticals and still keep my blood pressure down, that would be a wonderful thing!

I've added this tea to our store,

Tea of the Day - Feb/28/2016

A purchase from one of our shopping trips to a local discount store, this is a good chai tea, spicy without being overpoweringly so.

I'd like to say we now sell this tea in our store, but - alas! - our supplier doesn't carry it.

Tea of the Day - Feb/26/2016

Not all varieties of green tea from Lipton are good, (I think some of them are too bitter), but I like this one enough to add it to our store.

When I make a cup of tea, I fill my cup to nearly the top of the brim.  More yummy tea goodness for me to drink!

Tea of the Day - Feb/24/2016

A very good green tea, available at our store,

I've found that most varieties of "Earl Grey" tea tend to be tasty, so if you come across an "Earl Grey" flavored tea you've never tried before, it will probably be fine.

Tea of the Day - Feb/23/2016

This is a nice tea.  Unfortunately, like the Wellness Tea our supplier doesn't seem to carry it, so we can't offer it for sale in our shop,

A quick view of my "tea drawer" at my desk at work.

This was dinner a few nights ago:

Baked chicken and rice, with a bottle of kombucha.

Tea of the Day - Feb/19/2016

This is one of the teas we picked up shopping a few days ago:

It's really good.  So good, in fact, we added it to our store!  Highly recommended!

Here's an image of the back of the can:

Zhena's Gypsy Tea - Coconut Chai

This is a pretty good herbal tea.  It made a nice afternoon treat. Try it for something different!

Garden of the Andes - Lemon Verbena

Tea of the Day - Feb/18/2016

I drink kombucha mostly because I like the taste, and it does seem to help settle my chronic digestive disorders.  However, it's health benefits are controversial.  Wikipedia says this:

"Kombucha has been claimed to have various health benefits, but there is little evidence to support such claims. There are several documented cases of serious adverse effects, including fatalities, related to kombucha drinking, possibly arising from contamination during home preparation.  Since the mostly unclear benefits of kombucha drinking do not outweigh the known risks, it is not recommended for therapeutic use."

Haven't tried either of these guys yet, but I have high hopes that "Nighty Night" will help me sleep.

Hmmm .............

Why there was no post yesterday:

Tea of the Day - Feb/16/2016

Someone gave me a bag of this tea at work today.  (I think she felt sorry for me because I have a bad head cold.)  It's a good vanilla flavored tea.

Drank some of this again to see if it would help with my head cold.

Herbals are more of a long-term, healthy lifestyle type thingy.  If you want an IMMEDIATE REACTION, nothing tops a pharmaceutical.  Of course, pharmaceuticals do have bad long-term effects.  So try to use herbals whenever you can.  (Yes, you can ignore the bottle of generic "DayQuil" in the background!)

Tea Shopping Again

We went to another discount store yesterday, and found some new, (to us!), teas that we decided to try out.

If these are any good, (and our supplier carries them!), we'll add them to our store, .

Tea of the Day - Feb/12/2016

I had a bit of a head cold, so I tried this:

I'm not sure how well this tea actually helps your respiratory system, but I really like the taste.  So much, in fact, that I added it to our store!

Tea of the Day - Feb/11/2016

This is an interesting tea.  I'm not sure whether I like it or not; I suppose if you like EVERYTHING chocolate you'd find it delicious.

Another interesting tea.  This was one of the teas we got at the discount store, and it appears that this product isn't made anymore.  Too bad; it was nice.

Tea of the Day - Feb/09/2016

Allow me to introduce one of the best tasting teas around, at least in the category of tea that is already confined to a tea bag:

Of course we sell this one in our store!

Now in all fairness I need to point out that this is mostly blackcurrant flavored; I'm not sure how much blackcurrant is actually in it.   So if you're looking for the health benefits of a pure black currant tea, (which is supposed to be made with leaves from the black currant bush, not Camellia sinensis leaves), this tea isn't for you.  But on the other hand ..... if you're looking for a really, really good tasting black tea, give this tea a try.

Tea of the Day - Feb/08/2016

As I've said before, sometimes plain ol' black tea just hits the spot:

This was one of the teas we picked up on our shopping trip a few days ago.  It's a nice, basic black tea.  I probably wouldn't pay extra to have it shipped to me, but if I saw it for a decent price at our grocer's I'd pick up a box again.

Panera Bread Tea

If you've been to Panera Bread, and you've ordered a hot tea, you've undoubtably seen something like this:

My two favorites from this lineup are the Honey Ginseng Green Tea and the Mango Ceylon Tea.

Republic of Tea's Honey Ginseng Green Tea is, IMHO, the absolute best green tea available, (at least in a tea bag).  Mango Ceylon is a very good black tea.

Tea of the Day - Feb/07/2016

A Good Green Tea

This was a nice surprise!

Another green tea that does NOT taste like diluted dishwater.

This tea is from the batch we bought at the discount store yesterday.  It passed the taste test, so I added it to our store.

Another pleasant surprise from yesterday's tea-buying splurge, Sweetie and Lola like this tea a lot, AND it is also a diet tea.

Tea Shopping

It's nice every now and then to go to one of our local discount stores and see what exotic varieties of tea they may be selling.  Sometimes they're even practically giving it away!  Alas - that was not the case today, but we still found some interesting teas.

This was our haul for the day:

We've never even seen any of these teas before.  We'll try them out, and if we like them and have a source, we'll add them to our store.

Tea is wonderful!

Tea of the Day - Feb/06/2016

This would have been the tea of the day, but, tragically, the box was empty!

Oh no!  A BAD way to start off the day!

Sweetie likes this green tea a lot; Grump thinks it's okay, but better with honey added.

We don't have this particular variety in our store, but we do sell a Nottingham Green Tea.  (With lemon and/or with raspberry.  Our supplier seems confused, but the product reviews like either flavor.)

Tea of the Day - Feb/05/2016

Sometimes it's good to just have a cup of plain old black tea.  No flavorings or special treatments/processing.  Just plain tea.

Regular ol' Black Tea

Here I'm drinking some Lipton, but any generic black tea will do.  And while you could go online to some site such as our store, Tea Universe, and buy some, (although I don't think we carry generic black tea), you're probably better off to just take a trip to your local grocer's and buy it there.  (Unless you live in some exotic, isolated locale.  In which case, how are you able to be online?)

There's nothing wrong with generic black tea.  It's a good drink.  Lipton may, (or may not), taste a bit smoother, and your finer teas are more pleasing to the taste, but just about any black tea is reasonably good.

Now I must say that the same can NOT be said for green tea, which in its cheap generic form is undrinkable, at least to me!

Alvita Licorice Root

This is a nice licorice tea.  Licorice is claimed to help your lungs.  (NOT approved by the FDA, of course!)  However, since I have moderately high blood pressure I limit my intake of it, as I've been told, rightly or wrongly, that licorice can raise your blood pressure.

Anyway, I like the taste of licorice tea, so I treat myself every now and then.

Guayaki Yerba Mate - Chai Spice

Maybe because it was "hump day", or maybe because it was icky outside, (cold and rainy), I decided to drink something different today.

Did you know that yerba mate is the dried leaves of a holly plant, Ilex paraguariensis?  And that according to that foraging wizard Mr. Green Deane, you can also make a tea from the holly plants growing in your yard.

Hmmm ...... Ilex vomitoria.  I think I'll pass on that one.

Whilst Guayaki no longer makes the Chai Spice flavor, standard Guayaki Yerba Mate is available from Tea Universe.

Bigelow Plantation Mint / TajaTea Saffron Green

The first tea I ever drank other than a generic black tea was the wonderful, "Constant Comment".  Because of that I've always had a place in my heart for Bigelow teas.

Plantation Mint is a good black tea too.  But if someone ever held a gun to my head and said, "pick one and only one Bigelow tea as your favorite", it would be Constant Comment hands down.

This is a really good green tea.  I'm not the hugest fan of green tea, because quite frankly some of it tastes like diluted dish water, but this Saffron & Mango Green Tea is great!

To date this is the only Taja Tea product I've personally used.  Based on my experience with this product, I need to try more.  (So many varieties of tea; such little time!!)

Flora Cold Stop / Brew La La Blueberry Green

A new month begins!

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather this morning, so I tried some "Cold Stop" tea.

I can't say whether this will "stop" a cold or not, but it is a tasty herbal tea.

In the afternoon I was feeling pretty good, (probably because my Team Lead was out-of-the-office!), so I indulged myself some Blueberry Green tea from Brew La La.

Both of these teas are available at our website, .
